Merged Gravity & Unity

Posted by ChimeraDev - September 16th, 2023

As some people know, Unity has decided to change a lot with their latest ToS, and it's plans and ideas are not compatible with the future of game development I'm seeking, so as of today, I've decided to switch platforms to the Godot Engine, as it offers a good tool set, and an Open License to work with knowing that the future with them is secure and not at risk of some random changes like with Unity.

Merged Gravity as some may know, was being developed in Unity, as of this change, the game will be ported and remade in Godot. This means the development of this game has recently hit a big slowdown, but we hope we can get back on track easily in the future.

Thanks everyone again for playing Merged Gravity and giving me the energy to work on a full version.

Y'all rock;

glad to see people using the godot engine more often, how has the development of the game been going?

The progress has been extremely slow, but I've working on a workload rescheduling to mitigate the transition as much as I can; this will obviously take a while!

@ChimeraDev if u guys are facing issues with godot, i can help you out if you want, ive been a long time user of the engine and im trying to support as many new peeps as possible

That would be lovely. Currently I'm heavily considering moving back to Unity at least for this game,a s the issues with Godot engine are moving me back heavily, specially the Tilemaps, and physics engine issues, which my game heavily relies on.

@ChimeraDev are you using godot 4? also for phyiscs issues consider using Jolt, even though idk what ur issue is specificially

I'm using Godot 4.2, and I'm using the 2D engine, so Jolt doesn't apply, and the same issues are present with the Box2D alternative, these issues are in the GitHub for almost 3 years but haven't been picked by anyone yet.
